I just tried using the universal browser to open an old .mxd file, and it doesn't seem to work. The file was created quite a while ago using the MX-700 editor. Is there some logical reason why I wouldn't be able to open this type of file?

You have to use the MX700 editor, import the mxd file into the remote, save the file (as a regular mxf remote file) and then use the universal browser in the mx900 software to open the mxf file and drag and drop the commands you need.

8ate8 nailed it. That's what you've gotta do.

The logical reason - the MX-700 and MX-900 are different layouts, therefore, it just wouldn't "fit together."

That is indeed logical, and it certainly explains why you can't import an .mxd file directly into your layout. I'm still al little confused, however, about why you can't open an .mxd file and drag and drop the commands. Isn't that the whole point of a "universal" browser? It seems a little odd that I can open a Pronto .ccf file and not an .mxd file which is for a remote from the same company. And the strangest part of all is that when you go to open a file in the universal browser, it actually lists .mxd files as one of the supported file types. Go figure.

Oh well. I guess it is what it is. I do appreciate the help, guys. Thanks!

It's a "nearly" universal browser. :-)

Just more URC bugs in the software. A couple of years from now it will get fixed.
