So neither of the 2 Pace listings in the Cable database
did not work?
No
Actually, I found out what the problem was. Learning all the keys is not an issue - very fast in fact. Conversely, it took me hours going through the IR database.
The problem is that the Editor puts in links where they are not wanted. In the case of the Foxtel cable unit a lot of keys were linked to the first AUX device. It picked up modes off the AUX device in the IR database that closely matched the key name (ie AUX.play). Also, I had Learnt several keys. And some keys also had macros. I did not notice this at first - so the problem was that when I pressed a button, it actually did many things. I thought the Learning function was a bit flakey, so I repeated the learning process over and over.
The real problem is the fact that all of my devices were linked to somewhat random devices inthe IR database. ie the Foxtel cable unit was an AUX device. No idea why - I did not set it up as that. And once set, you cannot unset it.
No problem you might think - there is actually a function to delete all or any of these links. Simply right click on the device and select Delete. Then pick what you want to delete. The thing is, it does not work. Nothing happens, no matter what you select. You have to delete the device.
In the end, I simply gave up and created a new project with all new devices. No defaults were selected. This way no device is linked to any IR database item, and I never go near the database. So far, this has worked well and I am now well on the way to getting it all done, learning every key in the system.
I only have one device I need discrete power codes for (the Kenwood KRF-V5100D receiver)., otherwise everything is ok.
