Does anyone know if they plan on releasing a 650 replacement that operates on the narrow band. What they should do is just make that a function of the 900.

Stand alone.... as in no PC programming?

It already is a function of the 900 unless you mean there should be a non-PC version of the 900?

As SSD said, more info please.

Current info tells us that none of the HTM remotes will have the narrow band, and that all of the 900, 950, 1000, and 3000 do, and that the HTM remotes will not be changed into narrow band remotes.

Something just like the 650. Just for something to keep on the trucks.

Now the 900 CAN be programmed sans PC? Because thats all I'm looking for.

No, the 900 cannot be programmed without a PC. And there are no plans I know of for releasing a cheaper narrow band RF remote, although it would seem to be a great idea.

I expect that if/when there are narrow band versions of current MRF-250 and 300 available, you'll eventually see narrow band versions of non PC programmable remotes, based on the newer styling cues of the 900/950.

I'm with Mike, I think all new remotes from URC will migrate toward the narrow band transmitter. It only makes sense to use them since they are better you'd think they would want all of their products to have the more reliable transmitter.

It can be programmed without a PC.. I don't know if there are limitations, but pressing Listen and Enter put the remote into standalone programming mode.

This is true but there are limitations. You can't create a device, but you can rename a device. You can't create a new page on a device, you can't create a new button on a page, but you can rename a button. You can learn commands into the remote but you can't enter a number for a preprogrammed set of codes, nor can you build macros.

I suppose if you started from factory default you could rename devices and un-name devices to make them "appear" hidden. You could also change any button names that exist and learn codes on them.

I am glad they allow us to do this much without a PC because if you show up at a clients house sans PC you could still make minor modifications (rename and learn).
