Good day all first my equipment list

hitachi 51uwx20b
scientific atlanta 8000hd
toshiba hd-a2
xbox
xbox360
sony cdp-615 cd player

now the problem:

i downloaded the programing manual very easy to read and follow. I am now at the section dealing with push and hold macros. I have set my first one which is to watch dvd. tested it work fine. I am now trying to program the macro for switching from the dvd to watching tv. so i ca program the d tv button with the following macro

shut down dvd player
switch receiver imput to v3
turn on the 8000hd

my problem lies with what if everything is shut down and i want to watch tv? if i press the hd tv button, everything will power up except for the tv and the dvd will turn on also.

so my question is how to i program the watch tv macros so that if i am switching from watching dvd or playing xbox or listening to cd , everything that need to shut down will do properly but will not turn on if the first option i select is watching tv?

Not sure what you might be using for your TV from the IR database, but look for commands labeled P-ON and P-OFF in the LCD-labeled buttons. These are discrete On/Off commands. I see that the 51XWX20B has them. Using the P-ON command in any macro that requires the TV to be on will solve your problem.

Not sure if you are still working on this, but this might be useful for others reading doing research on programming as well. The Scientific Atlanta cable box should have a setting in the settings menu that says "set: power on keys". By default it is set to "power", if you change it to "power and numeric" then the box will power on when you press a numeric button. You could then enter into your power on macro the number 0 under cable to power on the cable box. I typically follow the 0 with an exit. By the time all the equipment powers on, you will not see anything on the screen. If you don't, you will probably see the info bar for a few seconds with 0 on it until it times out.
