Please help.

I've been programming an MX3000 for a client and am having problems controlling the lighting control system.

The lighting system is by niko, a belgium company. Using IR via the MRF-250 I am only able to switch lighting circuits on or off. I am unable to dim up or down any of the circuits using the remote.

The actual switches work by; 1 quick press = ON / OFF A prolonged press = Dim Up / Down.

However, once the lighting systems IR has been learned into the MX3000, i doesn't seem to be able to transmit a prolonged signal to the NIKO IR Receiver. I can however seem to be able to transmit a prolonged signal with other devices, most obviously volume control

Can anybody offer any advice. Is what i am trying to do even possible??

Many Thanks

Jack

Could be two things.

This being a European code, it may be transmitted in two parts. When you learned the code you only learned the first half. Try re-learning the code, but select the two-time learning option in the MX3000 learn window. That may solve it.

Another option: Go to the individual code in simulated view in the software. Click on it once. At the bottom of the screen the macro window will show the code as "IR DATA". Double click on the code in the macro window and this will open another window that will allow you to adjust the number of repeats the code offers.

One of these two should solve your problem.

In addition to what Jeff has recommended I utilize a trick when learning stubborn commands that need to ramp up or down.

Basically I have the remotes sitting on a table at a known to be effective learning distance based upon other commands. Then I block the output of the OEM remote with a solid non-translucent item such as a book, then press AND hold the desired button to be learned, activate the learning mode in the software and then remove the book.

johnsfine would be able to explain why, better than me, that this is effective....something to do with the preamble of the string needing to be cut off. This works more times than not for me, good luck.
