We are trying to control the volume on an Autopatch switcher via RS 232. The remote base unit is an MSC 400. We use AMX quite often with Autopatch and it works well. Our programmers are having ramping proplems with the URC remote system. Very slow or not at all.
Basically non-functional, so far anyway. Anyone with any tips or insight to make this combination work? Thanks

I assume the problem is the MSC-400 only sends a single volume increment command, instead of repeating it automatically when the button is held?

If so, I don't know of a way to fix it with the MSC-400, without telling the user to press the button repeatedly, instead of holding it down. However, I've only done a couple of MSC-400's, and there could be something I'm missing.

I normally use Crestron, which obviously isn't a problem. The only solutions I can think of with the MSC-400 involve additional hardware. What does URC's tech support suggest?

In 400 editor, after you "convert to smart macro" with the right click and tools on the device, you can go to the command that you need, in this case vol +/- and double click it (in the window on the right). This will open another window, and there is a "repeat when button held" option. When you check this it will also allow "ramp time and repeat time" adjustments. These will need to be tested to confirm proper timing. The default works for most units, but if you're not careful you could ramp all the way up before you could press the volume down button! Hope this helps.

It looks like we have it working as planned. Thanks for the great info.
