Proggrammed a bunch of these and something I never really understood.
1. Doing a new remote so I create all my devices.
2. Now want to import the Ir codes for a device from my database.
3. right click on a device and choose import.
4. Get the open>import device and avalible devices to where I want to import it to.
5. Make my "From and To" selection and press save.
6. Then get this device assign window?

1. Whats the point of this device assign window? Though I already picked "From and To" in the last window.
2. What do the "external devices" components refer to since they don't seem to refer to the devices in my new remote?
3. Why is it that sometimes even if I pick a component in the "used external devices" fiels and my destination in the "assign device to" field, the Ok button is still greyed out so I can't import the device?

Thanks a million. This thing was starting to be annoying.
Starting to make since, or atleast I know how to fix it. Wonder if that is in the manual. Kind af stupid feature I would think. Why would you ever want to import short cuts to other devices?

cuts to other devices?

What if you had a device that was just cable/sat favs. You would need to link to the cable/sat device.
What if you had a device that was just surround modes of a receiver. You would need to link to the receiver.
What if you had a device that was all the am/fm tuner commands for a certain model receiver. You would need to link to the receiver.

There's a lot of examples where it would be useful. The thing to remember is that if you are going to export a device, make sure there are no shortcuts/macros (AV receiver volume, tv aspect mode), unless they are intended, as in the above examples.

Was actually thinking about that the other day, but was not really sure how to do it the best way. Gets tiring to program all those favorites all the time. What would be the best way to do that?

Just create a new device called Favs, or whatever, and make put a bunch of macros in there that go to the channels you want.
