Hello experts,

Is it possible to add custom discrete IR code using HEX code rather than "learning"?

I have a DVDO VP-30 and they have added discrete codes to certain functions which are not accessible from the remote included. The new codes are available in HEX format only.

I've looked everywhere but can't find a place to input HEX code. Did I miss something?

Yes. You need another piece of software though.

Use Pronto Edit 4 (www.prontoedit.com) to create a CCF file from the hex codes. Then, use the Universal Browser to import the CCF.

To create the CCF, open Pronto Edit and choose a TSU1000, for the sake of easiness. Click the green "add panel" button on the toolbar, then double click a button. Click "Set IR" the "View IR >>". In the white box that appears, paste the hex code, then click "OK". Under the properties tab, you can label the button. Repeat as desired for other buttons. Then do a file-save as and save the CCF. Go into the MX-3000 software and find the universal browser, and use it to open the CCF file.

DVDO has recently made the discrete IR codes in ccf format available. See here:

Also depending upon the software version of your MX-3000 editor, you can copy/paste pronto hex directly into the editor via the UB.

By the way the version I have is 1.20.154

Oh yeah...

Didn't the old editors have hex entry?

Yup...just went into the MX-850 editor on my old PC (which isn't the Live Update SW) and it has it.

So then I got curious and went to URC's site and registered my serial number. When downloading that old software version all of the sudden it has direct hex entry again!

This is so cool! It'll save a lot of time.
