What were they thinking? I just got my remote yesterday and came to notice the missing RED record button next to play and stop. Every remote has that basic function...I am already disappointed at ths URC remote and can't take it back so probably have to create a button on the top menu to do record.

URC should have a suggestion forum for themselves so we can tell them how to better design the remotes.
1) record button 2) have option for lights to stay on if any button is touched (this works on the 950 but not 900).why why why why.....

I wouldn't want a record button...I might accidentally press it. The LCD button works fine for me.

That is why they put the LCD screen at the top. If it really bugs you use the +10 or enter on the bottom.

The 700/800/850 don't have a dedicated REC button either. In fact, the only one of URC's recent higher end remotes I can think of even with a printed REC label is the URC-100/RF-10 - and that's shared with the STOP key. The way today's DVRs work, it's really not needed... the LCD based keys work fine.

I program an average of 5 of these per weeks personally and never have a complaint with record at the LCD screen. Tell you what, I'll take yours off your hands for 50 bucks.

The "record" function is not commonly used. Well, not compared to play, pause, rewind, skip, channel, volume, etc. So it's just excess clutter in my opinion.
Plus...I may accidentially hit it when I don't want to. I even have a 1 second delay macro on my record button on the LCD screen so I have to make it deliberate to press.

I use the "Stop" button for record with my PVRs, but I don't program anyone else's remote that way unless they request it. Mike www.SurfRemoteControl.com

What a difference a day makes :-)
Honestly, get the remote programmed properly and the way it was intended and you will love it. I've programmed 197 of these since I've been keeping track and own 4 URC remotes in my own home as well.

add a "press and hold " macro under the "play" button for your record function. Works great

why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time! |

It doesn't hurt that Tweeter salepeople only sell that remote. LOL but I did 2 more today ! Actually not everyone at every store sells them. Our new store across town is hot on the mx-3000...too bad Taylor, that's what you get for leaving me! And some crews who have gone down to AZ to help with work load have been stuck with mx-350's!
