Hello,

Just got a new MX-3000 and have almost completed programming.

I have the MX-3000 set to turn off after 30 seconds when off the cradle. After it goes dark, the first press of any button or the screen results in a "crackle" or "feedback" sound from the speakers on the remote, almost like connecting speaker wires to a live amp. Or like pressing the talk button a few times on a walkie-talkie. Its not super loud, but definitely loud enough to be heard and to distract from the viewing/listening experience.

I assume the remote is engaging the speakers in anticipation of playing sound clips programmed into buttons, etc. Even when I remove all sounds clips from the page or hard-buttons, the crackle is still heard each time the remote lights up.

Is this a know flaw? Is there some way to fix this short of disabling all sound and setting sound level to lowest volume? Firmware update?

Also, is there a way to ensure that hard buttons work on first press when remote is "off"? Can the remote go "dark" without turning off?

A Grateful Newcomer

That IS annoying! I haven't heard of anything like it specifically with the MX3000 but have heard of the problem with other electronic devices powering up or down in the room. It usually is a function of a ground loop or other transient electrical issue, like turn on your lights and your speakers pop, or pressing eject on your cd and you hear a humm through the system while it ejects. My only luck has been to make sure you have no ground loops in the system, experiment with three to two prong plugs on your amp or other electronics. Do you have a mrf350 or 250, you might try moving them to a different circuit if possible? I guess the real (and probably first) test would be to pull all the programming out of the mx3000, make it brand new (so upload a blank template so there's no functionality) and see if "waking up" makes the noise, then you could more easily tell if it is the unit sending some sort of signal or an electrical issue. Sorry to be a little random, maybe someone else has more direct experience...

Yep it is normal on the newer version of the remote. The older versions didn't do the cracking noise. Nothing you can do about it that I have ever heard of. I have 3 of the MX-3000's and the 2 newer models do it while the older model doesn't.

Thanks for the replies. I should have been more specific - its the speakers in the remote itself that crackle on wake-up.

Bummer to hear that this issue is isolated to newer models and cannot be corrected. Hopefully the remote will still pass the stringent wife test.

Or, alternatively, I could have read more closely... Either way, it's good to have an answer.
