This comes up once in a blue moon, but I think that there must be a good tip for me out in cyberland.

When I do a cable box or sat receiver on an MX850, instead of using the PILE of favorites on the FAV button, I just use the cable device. Page one has PgUp, PgDn and DVR functions if needed. Page 2 SD client's favorites, Page 3 HD favorites, Page 4 digital music favorites.

Only hitch is the rare time when they switch from sat to cable, or when the sat receiver changes from a Hughes to a DTV or something.

So far, my choices have been to delete the old device and configure the original macros to the new device. Not as quick as it should be. Other choice is to add a new device and shortcut all the buttons to the old device page.

I saw the option to empty IR codes from a device, but bringing in a new device will still erase my favorites.

What's the easiest fix in your opinion?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

kind of a hack but maybe easier:
You could try just replacing all the buttons one at a time using the Database navigator.

This would leave macro's intact, but the problem is the channel macro's need to be changed anyway. Dish, DirecTV, and all the cable companies use different numbers for channels. Chances are power on macro's would change too, since we have to use goofy macro's to turn on cable boxes and the satellite companies usually just have on/off discreets.

First Create the New Device that will replace the old. Save.

Run universal browser, Load the current remote you are editing.

Drag and drop all codes to the old device layer from the new device layer.

10 Min if that and all macros saved and propegated.

Edit: If you are droping learned data over preprogramed data then you might delete the Preprogramed after you are done. Just for posparity (spelling). and the next time you universal browser it you it will work easyer.

You realize you can change those, right? That would be your easiest solution.
