Hello all,

I recently purchased the mx-850 remote-control.

I was given a file for my topfield digital settop box recorder.

The file works on his topfield which is the same as mine but I'm not getting any commands sent to the box.

I have reinstalled twice and used another version of the editor software with the same result.

Also I am looking for some codes for DVD recorder Panasonic dmr-ex85 and Sony rdr-hx900.

Any assistance appreciated.

Try using similar codes. Such as the DMR-ES25 or something and see if they work.

If not, do you have the original remotes to learn from?

This may be too basic, but is not meant to be insulting.
We can assume that you got a good connection between the computer and the remote? Also, that you downloaded everything to the remote; not just the learned codes?

You might try your remote on his and vice-versa. The manual stresses the importance of new batteries.

Hello,

I do have the original remotes but I thought with the 850 which was my reason for buying it that with the live update they would be more codes available.

I have had mx-500 for about six years it contained a lot of codes but as it was so old I knew he would definitely not have the available codes as the DVD recorders were recently available.

I am a quadriplegic and I thought the 850 would take a lot of work out of programming again with the live update.

Hello,

Re: the topfield which is similar t your tivo I received another message from the fellow that gave me the file from my topfield of which he has and the file itself is name TV of which already have.

I had to rename my TV and then install his file in rename it which I am going to try.

Re: the sony and Panasonic DVD recorders I will try to look for other codes but there is nothing for DVD recorders.

I already have the mx85-50remote for six years also. I bought the 850 as I thought it would be easier programming with the updated live update database for new equipment to make it easier for me as I am quadriplegic.

I couldn't find any codes for any DVD recorders for Sony or Panasonic DVD recorders.

I looked under vcr1 also and their no DVD recorders their just in case.

I have used some Panny DVD Recorder ones, the DVD-ES25.

Not every model will be listed in the database. Usually (7 times out of 10) a similar model number or generic codeset will work.

If that doesn't work, you have to learn the codes.
