Hello,

I'm trying to get control of a Dell MP5100MP projector via RS232.
But I'm not having any luck.

I have the correct serial port settings, and I'm copying directly from the projector manual, but nothing.

The manual has a sample power on command as:
0xBE, 0xEF, 0x10, 0x05, 0x00, 0xC6, 0xFF, 0x11, 0x11, 0x01, 0x00, 0x01

I'm pretty sure my cable is good.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

In the MSC control file for this device, ensure that the format of your RS232 HEX strings look like this:
BE, EF, 10, 05, 0, C6, FF, 11, 11, 01, 00, 01

... and that you have HEX button selected for the Connected Device.

You can test the command directly in the Connected Device dialogue box where the RS232 commands are entered.

When you see 0xBE for example, this is a HEX representation that has to be entered as BE, (with the comma to seperate it from the next HEX byte).

With the proper baud rate settings and cable, you should be able to get it to work. MSC400 does a good job of controlling rs232 devices.
