Hi,
He has a SA 8300HD cable box, a Denon Reciever, the TV,
and a Panasonic DVD player. So my question is, what is
the best way for me to get these discrete codes, or advanced
codes (I dont understand the difference between the two)
into this remote. I would be willing to buy a $20 remote
if that fixed the problem. I read that people have fixed
this problem, I just need someone to explain to me what
I need to do. Thanks for the help everyone!!
If the remote that came with your SA 8300HD is either the
silver Comcast one or
Atlas 5 DVR, you already have a remote that you can use to program in the discrete codes from the list that wz2p7j tried to post a link to (btw,
this should work). Otherwise you can get something like URC-8820 to program it.
It sounds like you read something about the process, but basically you can set the TV device code to 0702 and then covert the numbers in the link above to the remote's command code (that's the advanced code you might have read about), and assign that advanced code to a key by a keymove process and now you have a remote that can send the signal for a discrete code. You can now teach that new command to the MX-500. I can give the steps and the list of the codes converted if you have the right remote.
