I'm using the MX-600 and MRF-100 Base Station to control the components in an equipment cabinet. The remote works great on all the components except for the Series 2 TiVo.

I've read numerous threads referring to the TiVo IR sensor being sensitive to IR overload. The most common suggestion being to cover the sensor with tape or some other item. I have not been successful with this approach, in over 6 months of attempts.

Has anyone had success with the MX-600 (or similar RF/IR remote) and TiVo?

Is there another RF remote solution that doesn't overload the TiVo IR sensor or the wallet? Unfortunately a wired remote receiving eye, located in the room I'm operating from, is not an option because of the equipment location. Thanks.

I have a similar problem with a satellite receiver. All components in the rack behave perfectly except for this POS Bell expressvu box. I'm using the MRF-300 base station and even with the IR output turned all the way down it still overloads the IR and the box misses commands. With a little experimentation, I found that 5 layers of green painters tape placed over the IR sensor, and the MRF-300 set to about 1/3 for IR output, gives great results. I tried the known trick of poking a pinhole in electrical tape but couldn't get it to work reliably enough. The pinhole would eventually close up. Although the green tape is nothing nice and makes my equipment look like crap. I plan on cutting the tape square and possibly using one of those stick-on black IR blinker covers to hide the hideous mess. Let me know if multiple layers of painters tape works for you. Just keep adding layers of tape until the box stops responding to commands then peel off the last layer and hope for the best. If the MRF-300 set at lowest output overloads these boxes, anything will.
