We controlled a Mark Levinson MC40 with one via RS232. The ML was RS232 only, no IR. It worked pretty well.

I'm doing quite a bit with it lately. We haven't had any problems with it and it is very flexible. I think better integration with the remote for programming would be nice.
If you are used to RTI it is like doing a system with stand alone devices even if the system has no stand alone devices. You have to go back and forth between the editors. For simple systems I'd give RTI the edge but for more complex systems it is a wash to me. Neither one is vastly superior over the other.

If you want it to work without IR using RF to activate RS232 codes, this baby works pretty well and the range is great if using the latest mrf350 antenna and the MX-3000.
