Love my new TX-1000

My neighbor hates it though (his house is 400' away)

He has a Universal Remote Customizer ? with an RF receiver.

I had full control of his system and he of mine. I couldn't figure out why my channels were changing on their own.

I changed my frequecy on the MRF-250 to ID A and he can no longer control my sysytem but I still can turn on his TV. We both have Sony TV's. I don't think the IR blaster is capable of sending the beam that far and there is not a perfect line of sight from the MRF-250 to his TV. It is really 400' from house to house so even the RF is going pretty far. Every time I power on or off my system using either the macro i set up or the power button w/ a punch through it still either turns his TV of or on depending on the state of his TV. I know it is my control because I have my TX-1000 set-up to turn on my TV and go to input # 3 (HDMI port on my KDL-40XBR3) and his TV turns on to input 3.

Do you have any suggestions?

Also, my Motorolla DCT6412 cable box sometimes doesn't turn on or off in my macros.

Any ideas on that one as well.

Thanks for any help.

Nothing can prevent your tx-1000 from communicating with your neighbor's mrf-100. Except having him unplug the mrf-100. : (

Have your neighbor remove the antenna from his un-addressable receiver(most likely an mrf-100) It will receive commands from yours no matter what you have your remote addressed at.

The cable box power is a toggle and can't be controlled reliably. Leave it on. Add a power button on one of your pages incase it ends up off.

He prob has a URC-100/200/300 and it is not addressable either. I have run into this many times and just have to tell them I have to sell them a better remote. His only hope is try try the previous reccomendation of removing the antenna. This situation always makes me snicker a little bit because of a porn PPV remote issue story one of my clients has. But we wont get into that here. LOL

Thank you all for your input.

I told the "cheap bastard" to get an addressable receiver (only kidding). We are actually going to try the anteanna trick 1st before we pull out the boxing gloves.

I told him I'm waiting for the next time his in-laws are at his house and I'm going to order the Spice Channel for them!

I'll let you know how we make out.

My neighbor removed the RF flasher from the front of his Tv and is letting his remotes IR control his TV and all is well. It is kind of funny that the only component I was controlling was his TV because we have the exact same cable box but I wasn't controlling it.

Makes no sense to me but it seems to work.

I saw some of the posts lower in the forum about the URC units being a pain to set up and interference issues with the RF. I placed it in its first spot and have not had a problem yet. I guess I'm lucky!

Thanks again for the info.

If he misses the RF capabilities of his TV and you dont require yours you could also turn the RF "OFF" on your remote for the Sony device only. I guess it depends on who needs it more. Do either of you use multiple video inputs or TV volume?

I am suprised he has reliable control of his DCT cable box from an mrf-100

I don't sell the URC-100/200/300 but I believe the RF bases can route IR to discrete IR ports even though it is an MRF-100. If you both have emitters on your TVs and both have Sony TVs use different ports and assign the port, don't leave them set to ALL ports.

Example:

Your TV is on port 1 and cable box is on port 2
Neighbors Cable box is on port 1 and TV is on port 2
You both tell your remotes to route the IR properly, you will send tv commands to his cable box and cable box commands to his tv, he will do the same to you and neither will have a problem.

Then you can both keep the RF and get along.

and those who don't!

No, the mrf100 sends all signals to all outputs all the time.
