I'm able to program most of the AppleTV remote functions thru to IR and work. Except I'm having an issue with power down, or suspend as they call it. You have to hold down the play/pause for 6 seconds. Any ideas?

I set my first up last week and didn't worry, and let it run all the time.

I wonder if you can use the Repeat function in the IR database navigator.

I agree with modum, and see no downside to letting it run all the time.

Because it's used not as often as other components, we don't want to run it all the time.
When I use the repeat function it is just like I pressed then button several times.

I just installed the Apple TV and I've got mine running all the time. I've found that the Apple TV sounds much better if you sync your iTunes library to the Apple TV drive rather than stream it. Syncing also gives you the ability to personalize the photo screen saver which is very cool. Now, back to topic, if you are going to sync the Apple TV than you would want to leave it on all the time so it will sync automatically when you open itunes as opposed to manually turning it on each time. Just my .02

Has anyone else noticed how hot the unit runs, I think I could cook breakfast on it.

Oh yeah, it runs hot.
The 2 that I set up were placed by the TV (plenty of ventilation) rather than in cabinet behind doors.

The really cool thing is your eggs will have the Apple logo on it.

I installed one yesterday and you are right that sucker is smokin! I am guessing if you set it upside down it will self destruct.

It is a cool design though. I like the fact that they only made it compatible with 480p and up sets. I will make sure that I only set it up in open spaces(maybe on top of the motorola DVR).
