I have an MX-890 which is working great! Is there an easy way to transfer the 890's programming to an MX-990 or am I going to need to program the 990 from scratch?

Thanks, Bill

you can take codes from the 890 and transfer them one by one to the 990 using the Transporter function. But that's about it. The rest will need to be done from scratch.

That's what I thought, thanks for the answer.

BTW, off topic but thought I'd say that the MX-890 is an outstanding remote for my needs with one exception. IMHO, the layout of the keyboard is not well thought out. My home theater is in a totally dark room. Even with the keys illuminated, I'm forever pressing the wrong key, I've ordered an MX-990 from Amazon and once it's programmed I'll use it rather than the 890 in my HT. Whichever one wins the comparison I'll keep, the other will go on eBay.

The MX-990 is a much better remote control than the MX-890! Better button lighting by far and more tactile buttons make this unit a winner!

The early 890's were so poor when it came to button lighting.  There seemed to be a running change and it's better now.

Nonetheless, when I show the 890 and 990 to a client side by side, the 990 is almost always the choice.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
