I don't think will makes up for lack of skill. But of
course I have no idea what skills he has.

It's obvious to me that there's not too much (no offense); someone with the skills to complete this on their own would be able to find this information readily without asking in a forum like this.
Whenever I need components or info I go right to the major sources and download the datasheets and white papers; I know exactly which debugger I'd use, micros I prefer, etc.

I can just imagine what this thing would look like....(RS project box, etc lol)
It would be awesome to have a hardware remote platform and Open Source code so you could make whatever firmware changes you like, but there wouldn't really be any serious money to be made in the hardware alone alas.
