Just relplaced an old Pioneer that had worked perfect with the MX-900. I just upgraded to a Denon AVR-1907 and can not seem to get the remote to operate it. The unit is listed in the IR database but the only thing I can get to work sometimes is the power off and that doesn't work most times. Is there something about Denon that I need to know? IR sensitivity issues perhaps? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Frustrated in PA!

Are you using a Base Station?
If So What Base Station are you using?
Where is your IR ouput level?
Are you using Code 649 in the database?
Does the remote work IR, but not work RF?
Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish...

Using the MRF-300
I've tried the output level at all settings
Yes, using code 649
No, it wont even work IR

All my other components are working as normal IR or RF. This is why I'm stumped.

Thanks for replying

Have you fully deleted the pioneer device and commands?

Sure did Tweeterguy. It was the first thing I did.

More info...

I'm using the emitters off the MRF-300 and tried placing it in different locations on the Denon's IR receiver. Just can not understand why I get nothing.

We recently had a similar issue with a denon dra-297 and mx-900. Sometimes it's just faster to learn them in manually and verify that IR is solid before proceeding.

OK, here's what I tried.

Created a new file with defaults
Learned in volume + & - and saved file and up'd it.
Still wont work!

Tried using the two time learn and get a time out on the 2nd learn?

The Denon remote works fine

What the heck is going on?

Please help!

How old of a unit is this unit? Before just a month or two ago there was an issue with Denon receivers where if you were using a MX remote on an RF ID channel other than 0 then the RF ID transmitted along with IR code "confuses" the receiver and sometimes makes it real sporadic. If you are using a specific RF ID channel try changing it to 0 temporarily and see if that helps, if it does than you are pretty much out of luck with that receiver, either replace it with a newly made one where this problem has been fixed (you can contact Denon to see if your serial number is one that's been fixed or not) or put in a simple IR repeater system instead of going RF-->IR.

That receiver is also real sensitive to the IR emitter location and strength. I've had good luck sticking the emitter so it's about halfway on/off the little round emitter window on the front of the receiver. Also be sure to turn off the IR blaster on the MRF-300. You could try and put some black electrical tape over the emitter/receiver window to block out any other IR getting in.

Good luck with it, before we "official" found out about the issue with some Denon receivers we fought with several installs trying to get certain codes to work reliably.

Thanks NickKO! I called Denon and they knew exactly what the problem was. I have to send it to them and they'll fix it free. I just have to pay shipping one way.

Just wanted to let you all know I received the 1907 back from Denon and it works perfect now. Thanks again NickKo for pointing out that the early serial numbers of this model had a flaw.
