Whatever it is that they used on the rear shell of the remote that is 'tacky', what solvent cleans or removes this the best w/o damaging the actual plastic?
The best I found was Lighter Fluid, but that just isn't strong enough even with additional rubbing.
It's not to a point it's sticky, just kinda tacky which I don't like since it collects dirt.

Years from now, you might as well kiss recording OTA TV goodbye thanks to ATSC 3

I have an MX-880 that has the same problem. One interesting solution I read was to coat the tacky surfaces in cornstarch. Reportedly, once you rub it in/brush off the excess, it's nigh invisible and the tackiness is gone.

I’ve used rubbing alcohol to clean 850s and 980s.

I have removed that sticky coating off remotes in the past using Purple Power Degreaser after taking the remote apart. Use gloves since it will remove all of the oils from your skin.

I have used denatured alcohol (from a big box store) and 91% isopropyl alcohol (from Walmart and not the 70% although it may work too) with great success.
