I'm trying to decide if the TX-1000 will be the right remote for me. Does anyone have pictures of the sides, top and back of this thing? I know it was designed for table top use (or mopunted to a cupholder like Russ did) but I'm wondering how it works in your hands or on your lap? I considered the MX-900 but don't like the feel of it or lack of LCD buttons.

I would also be interested in hearing. I was lent the 900 to see if it would configure to my Satellite. I was able to get it working, thanks to Tweeterguy. Got everything set up and played around with it and did not like the ergonomics of the 900. I think the 1000 with it's three lines of display etc... might be easier to navigate and set up such that you don't have to keep changing pages when using a single device. Took the 900 back after saving the config and waiting to hear on Monday if the install dept that does not work Saturday has any 1000's.

IMO look at the MX950. I have used severl remotes in the past 14 years ranging from $25-5k. I personally like the MX950 and Have put one in my HT, Family room, and will be putting one in my Bedroom. It is easier to hold and channel surf than the 3000, and is more customizable than the 900. I really think URC hit a Homerun when they designed this remote. Can't wait for the color two-way version ; )

i like mine but i was sick of my mx-700. the only thing i don't like is that you can't combine buttons like the 950... i think that is the model.

it's heavy but doesn't bother me. i think the biggest gripe people have compared to a mx is that you have to kinda look at what you are pressing. but once you need to scroll through pages, i feel the tx really shines.

it is easy to program, much more expandable then say my mx-700, etc.

check out the review in audioholics.com

Thanks jongaro. Can you post any pictures? I'd like to see the back and sides. There is soooo little info about this remote on the internet. I have already found and read all 2 professioinal reviews on this remote. The reviews were not that informative. I'd like Remote Central to do one of their full reviews on it. But they seem to have fallen asleep at the wheel when it comes to reviewing new product.

I think I may just chance it and buy the TX-1000 sight unseen. I have have tried the MX-850 (nice button layout and feels good in the hand, LCD screen not so nice), MX-900 (horrible ergonomics to me with tiny volume and channel buttons, reports of paint wearing off buttons, limited LCD buttons means lots of paging), MX-950 (same poor ergonomics, body even longer than the 900, charging cradle makes it even taller when not in use and would get knocked over constantly in my home, way too much money for a remote). The TX-1000 is looking more attractive each time I look at it.

has a pic of the remote and dimensions at the bottom of the page. I've never been bored enough to take multiple angle pics of one during an install. IMO, I don't like them but to each his own.

Well, I played with the MX-900 again at my local dealer today and started to really like this remote. They gave me a good discount so I bought it. I saw some pictures of the sides of the TX-1000, truly not something you want to hold in your hands as others have said.

i could be wrong, but i believe there is only one owner, therefore one reviewer, and MANY remotes. also if you have read any of the reviews you can see the time and effort that goes into each one.

so i doubt its so much a case of "falling asleep at the wheel", and more a case of either the remote being unworthy of review, or he just hasn't got to it yet.

my work is done here. off to save another thread now! up up and away! (now picture the greatest american hero in flight)

One guy running this site? Well that's understandable then. I do find his remote reviews to be the best on the entire internet. Huge write-ups, and large hi-res pictures of nearly every angle and of course the MTFB test, (menacing thick fluffy blanket test) for IR performance. It's too bad he doesn't have time to do more.
