Hello,

I use CCP with an IPad controller and a MRX 2. The database for a SB 5645 (Matrix Switch 3291) works just fine, but the data in the software is not complete, it's set up for a 4x4 switch and my switch is 8x8. So, there are inputs and outputs plus some functionality that aren't in the database. I have the HEX codes from the manual but I can't seem to find a solution to add those so the serial connection (and it's more dependable functionality) will work. If anyone can point me to a site to teach me how to convert these (or write them) and then how I can augment what's in the CCP serial database, I'd be grateful. I generally can figure this out myself (mostly because of a lot of the posts on this site), but I've not been able to find a solution to this.

The functions I need are (followed by the HEX code if that will help).

Enter 01FD B34C
EDID 01FD B748
SOURCE #8 : 01FD 08F7
SOURCE #6 : 01FD 06F9
SOURCE #5, DST #1 : 01FD 15EA
SOURCE #6 DST #1: 01FD 16E9
SOURCE #8, DST #1 : 01FD 18E7
SOURCE #5, DST #6: 01FD 659A
SOURCE #6, DST #6: 01FD 6699
SOURCE #8, DST #6 01FD 6897

Really appreciate the help, I rarely post because you can usually find what you need pretty easy here, but I haven't been able to find this solution.

when you send hex codes with URC, you use a comma between each byte.

so your first code would look like:  01, FD, B3, 4C

that said, with CCP, I would stick with IR commands.  If you ever decide to add a CCP remote to your configuration, they won't be able to send out RS232 commands.  (unless you go with a MX5000 or MX6000, which you wouldn't want to do)

Thanks very much for the response. So how do I add this to CCP so it will work on a serial (RS232) connection? In other words, how do I fill the holes in the serial database so I can only use a rs232 cable to control this device? I could always use the serial port for the functions I've got codes for and use an IR port for the others, but that seems super janky. This (shinybow) unit doesn't seem to love IR signals either, it's a little hit and miss, that's why I'd love to get the rs232 working, just for dependability.

I would usually just drop this in the Universal Browser/Hex Editor and drag it to the button, but that doesn't seem to work on a serial device. I'm pretty sure I'm missing the correct way to go at this.

Thanks for the advice on future remotes, I've never really loved any of the URC devices, so that's why I use an Ipad. I've got a super complex system, and I found the flexibility the Ipad gives me design wise fits my needs properly. I spent almost 60 hours building the profile for this system, that's why I had to do it myself. I talked to a couple of installers and they really wanted nothing to do with this, it was way too complicated.

I don't know if there is a way to create a new rs232 device.  what i've done is to add in an rs232 device from the serial database and edit the codes for my new device.

Okay, that's probably where I wasn't being clear. Once you've added the device, how do you edit serial codes? I seem to remember editing serial codes several years ago when I had an MSC400 running the system, but I can't find how to do it now. I remember being able to add a code, and then getting a dialogue box to pop up so you could edit them, but just can't remember (or find) how.

Really appreciate the help.
