I got fed up on Thursday night. My second (used from eBay) URC MSC-400 just stopped working. I had it working at one point with my MX-990. I don't know if there's an air flow requirement, but it was put in my rack, which is in the basement and it's cool down there. It would not connect to the PC I was using to program it.

So yesterday I called Best Buy and ordered an MRF-350. I picked it up yesterday and last night I got it hooked up. On the bottom of the base station I changed the knob to channel 8. I was able to re-use my RFX-250 receiver and cabling and phoenix connector. I chose my devices (AVR, Shield, Xfinity Box, HD Radio, Aux Video). I got basic connectivity up and working within the hour. I use a Flirc device to control my Shield. In the CCP, I used the Denon DP1610 DVD player for the Shield codes. I learned that the CCP defaults to 3 key repeats for IR. On the Shield, I had to delete the buttons and re-create them using a 1 key repeat. That made my keypresses on the Shield much faster.

Unfortunately, I'm having two issues that I don't know how to solve.

1. I'm having an issue with the Denon TRIGGER codes. I found that those codes were included in the CCP's Denon AVR-3312 (MAIN 3) code set. If I highlight those codes (Trigger on/off) and hit the TEST button from the IR Database Navigator I see the remote pass that out it's own IR emitter. I've got a Xantech repeater upstairs and I see it flash. The signal is passed to the Denon, it sees the signal and runs the command appropriately. Awesome!! When I add that to a "soft key" button on the screen in my Shield device, save the file, download the config to the remote, press that soft-key when I'm on the Shield device, nothing happens. I have tried copying the macro from one device page to another. I've tried deleting the button macro contents and creating it individually on each page and that doesn't work either. I've got not idea why it won't work.

2. I've got nearly the same issue with my POWER OFF button on the remote. I've got the Macro configured on each MAIN page for each device and on the MAIN1 page. If I'm on the Shield main page, the power off button doesn't work. If I go back to the MAIN page and press power off, it works. Why???!! Drives me crazy. On my PUNCH THROUGH, I've tried each device's power set to NONE, and also MAIN1, and nothing allows me to power off from the SHIELD Main page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you aliased the commands or dragged them over from IRDB?

Thanks for responding! As I said, if I test the TRIGGER commands from the IR Navigator, it works as expected. I'm wondering if this has something to do with me setting the MRF-350 to have discrete IR ports.

Port 1: TV
Port 2: AVR
Port 3: Cable
Port 4: Shield

I don't have the same commands blasting to all devices. With the MSC-400, you could modify a command in a macro to hit a certain port on the MSC-400. I'm checking to see if this is a possibility with the MRF-350.

Yup. That was it. I changed the SHIELD to output it's commands on ALL ports. I really want to find out how to output individual buttons on a page to different devices. If anyone can tell me how, that'd be appreciated.

When I started this file, I selected how many devices I wanted. Then, each device got a theme. I then assigned those devices their appropriate IR commands from the IR DB in the initial New File Window.

When I'm going to program the device, I don't know where to drag and drop these "assigned codes" onto my Macro. I only see the IR Navigator in the right hand dock. I would have expected the transporter to show me all codes that are possible. Instead, I'm seeing "Hard Buttons" "Main Page" "Additional 2" through "Additional 5" and "Power". Should I be dropping all my codes from the Transporter??

EDIT: Even when adding new devices for the AVR's MAIN 2 and MAIN 3 IR codes, and assigning those DEVICES the same IR output as the main AVR (port 2), when I drag a code from MAIN 3 to the Macro on the SHIELD page, and the SHIELD device is set to use PORT 4, the code doesn't work. I have to set all devices to use all ports. That's a bummer. I really wish I knew what was going on.

You drag the codes from the IRDB to the Macro window.

You asking or telling him? Cause that is the issue right there. Drag to macro, no work. Alias, works.

This is the reason why URC doesn't want the software in the hands of the general public.
They have not gone to any training, expect someone can just tell them how to do it in 1 sentence, and refuse to listen when they are told what they are doing wrong and how it should be done.

Dude posted 3 times after you hinted to him 3 times what he was doing wrong. Still didn't listen.
Then someone else comes along and explains how to do it wrong as well (and a long time member as well). WTF! LOL.

Amazing, huh?  I answered this same question in another thread where the guy would not listen, argued, and even called me an asshole or some other form because I said I KNOW what the problem is, yet he would not listen.  Pig head mother fvcker.  It was the exact same problem as in this thread.  I try to help when I can, but if people want to argue, or come in and disappear after I help them, I am just not going to help ANYONE anymore.  No point.  I don't have to be here and don't have to help.  No skin off my back if people can't figure it out.
