For the second time in a year, I have LG TV's that have auto updated software that has caused the MX-880 codes for numbers to stop functioning. The first time was about 6 months ago (or more). I solved that problem by bumping up the "repeat" setting from 3 to 20. Apparently another update was pushed out by LG this week (May 2020) and the codes stopped working again. My programming takes advantage of Quick Access settings for different numbers to switch between YouTubeTV, Google Play, Amazon Prime and different HDMI sources.

I am using mostly TV.748.X code set and some TV.286.X for discrete codes. All of the other programming continues to work fine, but the number codes (0 thru 9) no longer work.

I tried to use the Learning functionality, but these are LG Magic Remote models. The Magic Remote uses RF and not IR, so I can't learn the codes.

Anyone else experiencing this issue or have any suggestions?

Thank you.

I’ve used 666 for LG.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

@tomciara

Thank you for the tip. Tried it again. No response. I have gone through most of the LG codes with codes for the numbers. No response from the TV. It is very odd and frustrating. It is like LG just changed the codes via their update, but the Magic Remote that comes with the TV still works. The Quick Access buttons are so important to a clean programming solution, so I need to find an answer. I have emailed URC and will do the same to LG support I guess.

Any other thoughts or ideas from anyone on the forum are welcomed.

Did it become a LG Roku tv with this update? :) Of course no Roku tv accept number keys even though they use very old tv code sets that have these commands available. And there was a LG roku tv at one time.

@edmund - No, I don't believe it became a Roku. However I did get my problem solved late in the day today.

The same codes work with a caveat. My luck started to change when I bumped the Repeat setting all the way up to 200. At that point, I got one of the buttons to respond, but not all the time. I then discovered that the number buttons seem to kind of go to sleep. Not sure how else to explain it. If I hit the TV with a number code and they don't react, I hit them again and they would react. My solution, which seems to be working now, is to send an initial signal with 20 repeat, followed by a 2 second delay and another signal of 10.

The bottom line is that the codes did not change after the update, but the way the TV reacts to my program did.

Thank you to those who provided input and hopefully this helps someone else.
