Hi All,

Is it possible to set up a timed mechanism that does the following.

1. Press a button on the remote
2. The remote jumps to a new page with active buttons.
3. The remote gives you 3 seconds to press one of the active buttons before returning to the original button pressed at the beginning of the cycle.

Using the simple jump command allows you to jump to a new page of course but the panel is dead during the cycle. I am trying to hide some hardly used button under a logo but do not want to have to press a "back" button to return.

Can this be done. I have tried for an hour now but as I don't really know what I'm doing with variables (I wish there was a idiots guide to variables) I don't know if I am pursueing my goal correctly.

Thanks

Why don't you just program each active button to be a macro which first does the button's function then does a "Navigate -" back to the page you jumped from?

I haven't tried that, but I will. It doesn't sound like I will be able to press several "hidden" button before auto jumping back but I'll check and come back. Thank you.

Just tried that, and no it does not work. Thanks for the info though. The "jump to" page is still dead. I need, I want, I would like the hidden buttons to be available for 3 seconds before auto returning. I am more or less ready to conclude that it can't be done, but someone good with varaiables may have an answer to this.

Thanks

Variables can be used to provide branching by nesting them as well as various other things but your hard up against the fact that this remote does NOT multitask. Once you start a macro the macro has end before the remote can respond or even acknowledge another command (and there is no input buffer either). This is why the screen is 'dead' during the delay.

You can't pause momentarily, wait for user entry and then continue with a macro. The remote simply isn't designed to allow it.

If we had a better idea of what it is that you want to do we might suggest a way to accomplish it in a different way.

What Mr. wood suggested is that you use a simple jump to the new page and program a navigate- as the last command in each of the buttons that exist on that page, effectively eliminating the need to push the back button. This method does not auto return after a given delay but then that functionality is not available anyway.

Right I understand that. I had more or less concluded I was out of luck. What I had hoped to do, was this.... Page on remote has an image on it. Press image to jump to an identical page except the image has been replaced with buttons needed to delete or keep programmes on my Sky+ HDD recorder. I wanted to be able to press any one of the said buttons "more than once" if needed within a preset period of time, prior to the return to the original page.

I understand the navigate (-) command will do some of what I want.

Thanks
