Is there a way to do this, I have tried using both the create device menu and button editing on the main page, and both remove not only all the pages of the renamed device but all references to it in other devices macros ?

In the mx editor just right of the martini glass(rf control) is box called "Edit and Label Button Window" click on it if the window isn't visible already. Hightlight a device it should show in a window in the box, edit it there, save and it should change on the main page. Download to remote.
