Have an MX-880 here that keeps waking up. The LCD will go blank as expected after a period of inactivity, but then it will come back on after a quick second as if the remote is again being used.

No buttons appear stuck, and the remote seems to work fine other than the battery draining fairly quickly because it's always on.

I did try a new battery and it did not make a difference.

Anyone see this before, and/or have any suggestions? I'd hate to replace it just for this if there's a quick/common fix.

Some remotes have a motion detector, a bubble in tube, that's what makes come to life.

Hmm, if that has failed I wonder if it can be bypassed? I'll pop the remote open and see if I can identify one.

this may be able to be disabled in the system menu.  i forget the button combo, but there is a hidden menu on the remote to adjust things like brightness and other settings.

edit:  I looked up the manual.

Press the WATCH and ENT buttons at the same time and hold them.  That will take you to the system menu.  In the menu is an option to turn off the pick up sensor.

So strange! I disabled the pick up sensor but the remote is STILL waking up!

It must be one of the buttons, but it does not beep when it wakes up. Perhaps the LIGHT button on the side is failing?

I’d say go into the menu and factory default it. Reload your program. If it persists, you have a defective unit. Or a UCP.

Sorry, what's a UCF?
