I'm working on potentially replacing a current MX-450 remote with the MX-980, to control all of te devices in the location, not just in the restaurant's theater. I was doing some testing yesterday, but for the life of me, I could not get any of the five generic devices to do anything. The MX-450 is using device 443 and has no issues. As a side note, RF is being used in the theater, which shouldn't make a difference. The MX-980 is set for 3 repeat mode. Should I set it to 1?

Has anyone else run into issues controlling BENQ projectors with the MX-980? We don't know the model number of the projector. Funny thing is, the person who installed it had to climb up to it to see what it was, as it was giving a warning about bulb life. The model number isn't really needed as device 443 should control it.

Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Thanks.

is the IR emitter flashing on the projector?

if you set the mx980 to output IR instead of going RF, does it work then?

The programming is set to flash all the emitters and when I do try and send the projector a command, I can see two of the emitters flashing that are connected to two of the other devices. That was one of the clues I used. Controlling of the amp works, which is the emitter that I don't see flashing.

I've discovered today that they've even had trouble with MX-450 controlling the SX920/SW921/SU922 projector (do not know which one they have, yet). They've had to grab the BenQ remote to get the projector turned on.

So you may have the emitter in the wrong spot?

You didn’t answer whether the URC remote in IR mode works. That is key information.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Sorry, no idea why I didn't mention that. I did indeed try the IR and it did not work. I'll have to try again. It won't be until I get back from my overseas vacation. So, it'll be early Dec before I can continue work on this.

I tried a long shot tonight. I "learned" the remote. The codes in the URC database are useless for this remote. I did not "learn" all of the buttons (there aren't that many to start with), as the staff doesn't need them all.

At the moment they don't even have the MX-450 that they were using, as it appears that someone stole it.
