Ken, you are very thoughtful in your communications. But whether you think the policy is right or not will always be a discussion point, almost like politics. People will never agree. I say put it to rest, you just keep doing what you’re doing which is fine. Arguing about the policy is a useless endeavor.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I just can't figure out why people that aren't dealers are so loyal to a company that doesn't treat the public fair(in my opinion).

We're professional installers and we're treated very fairly. I don't understand the problem. (That probably deserves a smiley emoji.)

As someone already mentioned, someone who's not been trained on this programming is likely to call and ask questions about things they'd learn in training. I, as an installer, can't spend my money ( = time I'd be on another job) to help out individuals, and URC can't add onesy phone calls to their tech lines to tell one person after another things they would have learned if they had gone to the training.

The reason for all this is so that we installers will find the product profitable, and therefore will buy it. Not that we don't come down on them like a ton of bricks when they screw up... but it's a good relationship for the brand.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Is everyone on this forum a dealer? I just wanted to know why the general public is so loyal to URC by not giving out the software. Maybe they do (not sure).

yes. most people that post here are dealers.  many of which have been told that we can give out the CCP software to our customers at our discretion.  some dealers have been told that they can't give out the software.  and i've heard that we aren't allowed to give it out anymore.  it's a muddy mess.  so i can understand why dealers are cautious about giving out the software on a public forum.  it's not worth getting in hot water with URC over trying to help someone that isn't spending any money with them to begin with.
