A few months ago after applying the available updates to CCP, I started getting a memory exception when exiting the program.

Today I rebuilt the XP image, reinstalled the software...it worked great. When I said yes to apply updates, it did all 500+ of them and was successful.

Unfortunately, the Memory exception error is back.

Has anyone else seen this, and is there a fix?

Maybe you should update Windows to a more timely version ...

Installed a VM with Windows 7, the CCP error goes away, but I cannot update the MSC-400 from any of my laptops. Interesting, the PC in the basement works, but that means I need to remove the device out of the rack and move it every time it needs to be programmed.

You could install USB over Cat5 extenders if you have a spare Cat5 between the areas.

There is something about the USB ports on the host. I found one of my old laptops and am getting the same error. The image sees the unit and can connect to it. When you try to upload or download you get an error. Using the exact same VM on the tower pc, it works fine. I have a spare MSC-400 to play around with. I might do what you said with a long extension, that would work.

if the computer has USB 3.0 support, try turning that off in the BIOS.  I've had that fix MSC400 connection issues before.

Also, be sure that you don't have a 64 bit OS installed, 32 bit only for MSC400.

Installed 32-bit XP and Windows 7 using Virtualbox. The laptop (Older HP elite) was pre USB 3.0. It is very weird...the PC that works is newer with USB 3.0 ports.

Thanks for the suggestions, very much appreciated.

Heck, I even threw VBox on a Linux laptop I have..same error. The USB light comes on on the MSC, Vbox sees the device and connects. Hit upload/download and it throws an error and aborts.

Fixed! Installed Linux Mint with Virtualbox on the HP laptop (Pre 3.0 USB), and Win 7 (32bit). It connected fine and I was able to upload/download the config. What is interesting is that this laptop with Windows 10, Virtualbox, Win 7 was NOT able to connect.

pretty sure that windows 10 won't connect, ever.

I thought you could get it to connect with a 32 bit copy of Windows 7, 64 bit definitely not.  My old setup was a Windows 7 pro 64 bit install with XP Mode installed and that worked fine.

glad you figured it out in any case.

The Windows 10 was just the host for Virtualbox. Same version as the PC in the basement and it works there...not on the Laptop. This is a bit of magic beans...once I found a working combo I'm not touching it :-)
