So frustrating... I have no idea why UE has made it so difficult to add a few device icons to CCP for downloading to an MX-880.

I've created a .vfd file with 6 new device icons I'd like to use on an MX-880. I know the graphics contained with the .vfd are fine, as they worked great with the older MX-880 software.

I've named my .vfd "ColFile.vfd" just like all the others... but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it the icons in there to appear in the Program-->Devices interface where all the other device icons are showing.

Tried just replacing an out-of-date one like Tape-->ColFile.fxd since I don't need any tape deck icons. No luck. Is there some way to make CCP re-scan for new device icons that I've missed?

How the heck do i get these new icons to show up??!

THANK YOU for anyone who can help...

Why not just import the individual icons (I assume .jpg or .png) through the button Properties?

Thanks DJ. Have not found a way to do that. Will check again tonight... are you sure you can do that in CCP? (I think it was doable in the older proprietary mx-880 software).

Sorry I took so long!

1. Select the button.

2. At the bottom of Properties is the Image section.

3. Under "Normal" you'll see two green arrows (not the DC superhero!). First one is to Import, second one to Export.

That is available on the 890, 980, and I believe 990. It's not available on the 880 though

Using the same CCP software? That sucks!

Using CCP and an MX-880, I *think* you can just add new png files to an icon folder (it works for me - obviously do this with CCP off).

I used to mess with the .vfd, but no longer seems worth the hassle. Not sure what the great disadvantage is of doing it this way, but now I just drop my custom icons here with no changes to the .vfd in this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\MX-880\Images\Alpha\Icons\General Use

Since you're customizing, may I ask: have you found a way to replace the "waiting" images? I never could get MX-880's to use a custom wait screen.

STILL can't get custom icons on buttons for an MX-880 through CCP. Ridiculous that it's this hard.

When I select a button and then choose "Image Gallery" (2nd tab in properties pane), and then hit the "..." icon to choose a gallery, I see only the following choices: Blank Buttons, Local, Music Favorites, National, and Premium.

Tried adding a PNG file that worked fine in the older MX-880 editor into the directory mentioned above by Clemdia, but the added icon doesn't show up in any of those directories. I see no way to open an arbitrary disk location in the image gallery, or get another folder to appear.

Can anyone help me?
