I have a windows 8 laptop that does fine with MX980. A client has an old 950 I am trying to tweak up for a secondary room, but it does not connect. I have only done a single 950 in my life, probably 15 years ago, and of course with a different laptop. Do you know what the secret sauce is?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Might only work with Vista. I had a 950 years ago and that's what I used with it. Might try to do a compatibility mode with it, if your computer has that option.

I still use the Mx950, went from XP to Windows 7, and although the editor worked fine, the USB driver would not work. In the end I kept an old XP PC I had and booted that up when I needed to update the remote.

I suspected the virtual XP mode of Windows 7 might work, but as I had the old XP PC never tried it.

I believe the issue is the MX-950 (and MSC-400) only have 32-bit drivers. So they won't work on a 64-bit operating system.

It should work in virtual XP mode, or any old 32-bit system.
