I have a new Alienware computer with Windows 10 version 1809. I've done a few searches and tried to download the Windows Mobile Device with no luck. I get an error message stating (drvupdate-amd64 exe. error creating process.) I've tried going to Computer Management\ Services and Applications\Services\ looked for Windows Mobile 2003 based device connectivity but it's not listed. What's my next step?

I contacted Microsoft support and they said I have the latest version of Windows 10 which is #1809. They informed me that this version won't support Window Mobile Device. If you have an old computer with support for the Mobile Device you better hang on to it.

Thanks musictoo I tried that. When I go to computer management -services- I scroll down and the line that's supposed to be there for Windows Mobile 2003 connectivity isn't listed.

Call URC and they'll get into your PC to fix it.

Talked to URC. I told them about my problem and about Windows 10 v. 1809. She said she wasn't aware of it and to tell you the truth I don't think she cared. I told her there could be future problems with v.1809 and she said so far they haven't encountered it. So much for customer support.

Call again. I've never had an issue with them helping up with this issue in the last several years. In fact they just screen shared with one of my techs this past Monday to fix the same issue.

Thought I'd try something new. I did a search and found a site that says WMDC has been replaced by the Sync Center ( same thing different name) it didn't do much good. Said I needed an updated driver. I went to Device Manager and under Network Adapters it has Other Devices--Unknown Device--Update Driver-- Browse My Computer. Located under Mobiles Devices it listed URC USB Sync MX2. Is this the correct driver update to download?

I tried the above and that doesn't work either. Still can't download WMDC with the updated driver.

Did an update today. Says it's for .NET Framework 3.5 & 4.7.2 for Windows 10 v. 1809 x64. Thought it might help. Did nothing.

Thought I'd warn everyone. Today on my laptop running Windows 10 version 1803, my laptop wanted to update to version 1809. Don't do it or your Windows Mobile Device won't work. I had to contact Windows Support to refuse the update. They took control of my computer to refuse the update. You would think there would be option to say Yes or No. I also saw quite a few videos on YouTube about version 1809 deleting files. Microsoft knows about this and yet they continue to send the update out. Unreal! Just thought I'd send the warning out.

I have a virtual machine running 1809 and it can program an MX-1200 and MX-890 without a problem... But I'm not a dealer, I just have my own pair of remotes that I'm dealing with, and maybe these two are new enough to not require WMDC?

The mx980 requires it, not the 1200 or 890.

I contacted URC about the problem with an e-mail and this is what they responded with: (See below) It didn't work and I'm not sure what they mean by the rar file. Farther on down the list they talk about "Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity. This doesn't exist on my computer, so there isn't much I can do.
URC:
When the remote populates in the device manager right click and select update driver software first.

Select browse my computer for the driver software. Then choose have disk now browse for the path that the folder from the rar file is in and select ok. After this select Microsoft for manufacturer and for model usb sync. Once this is done follow the last set of steps if they have not been done yet on the pc.

No Windows Mobile Device After Windows 10 July 2017 Update

After this Developer update now in July, 2017 for Windows 10 the Windows Mobile Device Center is not working, so you are unable to update any MX-980, MX-3000, MX-5000 & MX-6000 remotes.

Confirm the driver on the remote is updated or the “Mobile-2003-based device connectivity” WILL NOT SHOW

Click on Start,

>then click on Computer Management

> Services & Applications

> Services.

> Scroll down to right-click on "Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity" to

> select Properties

> Log On. Switch to "Local System account" with checking "Allow service to interact with desktop" then click OK.
