I have a MX-980. When I initially programmed the remote, I saw that all commands on certain devices had a lag. That is there was a delay between the time I press a command on the remote and the time the command takes effect on the device. The IR indicator shows the lag, with the indicator remaining solid red for a longer period than it should. The lag is particularly annoying when fast forwarding through commercials. By the time the play takes effect with lag, I'm several minutes beyond when the commercials end. Moving through menus can also be especially awkward, depending on device setup.

Some devices had a lag and some devices did not. After testing what was different about the devices with and without lag, I found that the devices with a lag had a clock at the bottom of the screen. If I remove the clock, the lag goes away. And if I return the clock to the bottom of the screen the lag returns. This clock delay only appears to occur when adding clocks using the CCP editor. No lag occurs when adding clocks using the MX-980 editor.

Does anyone have ideas about how to resolve the clock lag? I am using white Trebuchet MS font size 10 on the background screen (centered, bottom) with the 02:32:PM format. Is there another clock display setting combination that can be used without a lag?

“Alexa! What time is it?”
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

report the issue back to the engineers and fix the issue?

I get that this is a minor issue with what would seem a simple work-around.  But URC is too dedicated to work-arounds and not actually fixing the root of the issue.  It's tiring.  Especially when I have a working system that breaks due to a bad software update, and the work-around is for me to uninstall the software and download an older version to fix the issue.

I did mention issue to URC support prior to starting the thread. They said they haven't heard of this problem before and recorded the issue in their database.

It's my understanding that CCP can convert MX-980 RCF files, but the MX-980 editor cannot convert CCP files. This makes it awkward to downgrade to the MX-980 editor.

I've found that lag only occurs on the specific page for the device that has the clock. So my workaround has been to duplicate pages -- one page with clock and one page without. I primarily live on the no clock page. If I want to view the time, I can press a soft button, which causes me to jump to the with clock page for 3 seconds, so the time displays for 3 seconds, then I jump back to the no lag page. Or I can press the page+ button, and move to the with clock page, so the time permanently displays, but lag is present on all buttons.
