I just got a PIR-1 and I can't get it to work with my CCP software.

In standalone mode, the PIR-1 does beep properly recognizing IR. However, when I try to connect the PIR-1 to my computer it doesn't seem to be recognized as a USB device. I also get an error if trying to learn with the PIR-1 within CCP. I'm using Windows 10. Is there updated firmware or a different driver available? Any suggestions?

All CCP remotes can be used capture codes.  Do you have an iOS or Android only based system?

I'm using MX-990s with CCP and I have learned many codes via the MX-990 (not using iOS or Android).

I'm having some challenges with IR codes for Buttkicker Advance amplifiers and had seen recommendations on the forum to use a dedicated IR learning device which is why I purchased the PIR-1. I contacted Guithammer (they make the Buttkickers) and they aren't able to provide the hex codes unfortunately.

The URC PIR-1 manual states it works with CCP and Accelerator. Is it possible the PIR-1 isn't actually compatible with CCP? Has anyone tried the PIR-1 with CCP?

I have never tried in in CCP due to never needing to.  I will try in a little while and let you know if it works.

WOW - that is super kind of you!!! Thanks for checking it out.

Out of curiousity (if you use Window 7, 8 or 10), when you plug the PIR-1 to the USB port - does it show up in device manager?

Could be in need of 2x learning mode. I found that to be true in a Boston Acoustic soundbar.

I actually tried that as well. The CCP software gave an error no matter what I tried. It's possible that the CCP software will only interface with the remotes shown in the Home Designer "Remotes" section.  Testing by Goldenzrule will hopefully confirm whether the PIR works with CCP in addition to the Total Control software.

Ok.  Good news.  It works.  It did not at first so I think you probably encountered the same issue.  What I found out is that the PIR-1 firmware will update when connected to CCP, and then will update firmware when connected to Accelerator.  I plugged in the PIR-1 first, then opened CCP and tried to learn.  It did not work.  I unplugged the PIR-1 and plugged back in and still did not work.  I then closed CCP and unplugged the PIR-1.  I started CCP and THEN plugged in the PIR-1.  It didn't do anything at this time.  When I went to learn a code, it updated the firmeware and then was able to learn.  I tested the learned code via the PIR-1 and it worked.

I'd suggest doing what I did and start CCP first, then connect the PIR-1 and then try to learn a code to see if your firmware updates.

Thank you very much for testing!!!!

I tried the steps you mentioned several different times on my laptop and desktop PC both running Windows 10 without luck. I tried with the PIR-1 beeper on / off, with / without batteries, different USB cables.

When I try to learn, I get the message "Unsupported Operation was Attempted". If I click on Learn again, I get the message "Learn Status Check Error. Remote has disconnected." Perhaps my PIR-1 is defective. Any other thoughts / suggestions?

Was there a dialog box saying that the firmware was updating? I also tried updating CCP with the PIR-1 plugged in but that didn't do anything as I already run the lastest version of CCP.

When the firmware updated, there was a box with a progress bar. I'll have to try testing on my win10 machine. My main programming computer is win7. I have less issues with it.

I have Windows 10 Pro on all my machines. Given you used Windows 7, I'll try running virtual Windows 7 and hope for some luck there.

My guess is that the proper firmware is now on your PIR-1 from Win 7 so I'm guessing it will work with your Win 10 PC.

I installed Windows 7 in a virtual machine on my Windows 10. I was able to get CCP to run and it actually recognized the PIR-1 and updated the firmware to v 1.54.

I then tried to get the PIR-1 to work in Win 10 and couldn't get it to work no matter what I tried (including running in Win 7 compatibility mode). I could use virtual Win 7 with CCP for the codes I need to learn but I can't figure out how to access the virtual machine drives and I can't connect via network to my other PCs either. CCP runs very small screen size in virtual Win 7 so it's a pain.

I'm very curious to see if you can get the PIR-1 recognized in CCP running on Windows 10. Thanks again for your help in troubleshooting. I would have never tried Win 7 until you mentioned it.
