I have a Kirchler fan/light. I have a remote control to turn on the fan (3 speeds) and the light. I've tried learning the codes from the original remote to the 980 but nothing works. The fan isn't listed in the IR Database. Any ideas?

is the fan remote actually IR?  most of them are RF.  If it is RF, you won't be able to teach the codes to the URC.

to verify, point your phone camera at the end of the remote and press some buttons on the remote.  if you see a flash, it is an IR remote and you should be able to teach the codes.

I double checked the manual. You're right, it's RF. Thanks, time to delete the fan from the programming.

Does the light have a wall on/off switch separate from the fan? You could use the older Lutron/URC switch if all you want is to turn it on and off.

No wall switch. It only came with a remote.
