Contemplating buying an MSC-400 to begin phasing out my Crestron system.... Have the MX 3000 and the RFX250 and MRF 350 already, but I would like to have 232 control of some components.... I was wondering if anyone has some experience with it and how flexible it is.... In addition, how does it interact with whole house audio bus system control systems (i.e. like Crestron Pad 8)...

I dont think you can control the PAD 8 with RS232....its controlled via the Crenet network. As far as the MSC400 goes, it can do one-way RS232, and I think you just put your own codes in the software if they dont have it in the database. We have one for our showroom, but havent had time to install it yet.

Interesting.... So, it is only one way RS232.... I know the MX 3000 is a one way, but I was thinking that the MSC 400 could do two way with the coming of the MX 3500, which is supposed to be two way...

There will be a new MSC piece to accompany the New 3500 called the MSC500. Besides 2-way. it'll also incorporate the ability to use URC in wall keypads.
