Hello, I have been using my MX-980 for what must be close to 10 years now, most of my equipment has IP control capability so I was looking into options for IP control of everything. I know the MX-6000 is pretty old now but I don't think the Total Control line is available to D.I.Y users, I know my options are limited.
I have the CCP software that I got from Surf Remote who I bought my MX-980 from, software is not an issue for me. Pronto is history, iRule is ending support and the fact I hate Harmony remotes is leaving me with few options on the D.I.Y side.
Thanks

Don't buy a 6000. If everything is working fine, why change? The 980 was an awesome remote, every one we ever sold is still in the field working.

I have two MX-980 remotes and one of them is starting to have button issues, they are pretty old now.
It would be nice to have feedback, I picked up a used KP-4000 for $85 and it is coming tomorrow, I can play around with to get a taste of the two-way capabilities but the MX-6000 won't be hard wired, I am not sure how responsive it is. I have read some complaints about the MX-5000 having lag issues.

IP control with the MX6000 can be done, but it isn't very reliable. it is slow to connect to a wifi network. So if you pick up the remote, you may have to wait 10 seconds for the remote to connect, and the command to go through. On top of the that, the MX6000 isn't the most reliable remote in the lineup, and I believe the batteries for them are pretty hard to come by at this point.

Thanks, I guess I will just wait until the MX-980 remotes stop working and then replace them with MX-990s. Put my KP-4000 in the wall and did some quick IP programming, it works really well, too bad there is not a wifi version of the MX-990 for Complete Control.
