Hi,

I have been very happy with my MX-990 so far, have been able to bring it up to approx 90 % completion of what I want it to do, but it has now stopped downloading.

It will download to Total Progress % 55, then Current Progress will work up to 25 %, then Current Progress will jump back to 0 %, then work up to 25 %, then it will jump back to 0 %, then work up to 25 % for a third time, then I get an error message saying: Download, Download Error, Download Fail (yes I know, very helpful text...).

I have tried downloading the file file with different names. The size of the file (5823 KB) is the same as the file that is actually in the remote, and which works fine. I have tried downloading from different USB ports, no difference in behaviour.

I use a 64 bit Windows 7 machine.

I hope someone can help, 90 % complete does not give me Complete Control (pun intended)...

Thanks
Chris

Try loading an empty file. If it works, then reload your file.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion.

I am a bit hesitant to try this. What if I succeed in downloading the empty file, then fail in downloading a real file afterwards. Then I will be stuck with a remote with an empty file, which obviously is of no use to me.

Is there anyone with similar experiences or with an explanation as to what could be wrong. I want to tread very carefully now, after all I am able to at least use the remote for certain task as it is, although nowhere near anything that can justify the price....

BTW, I have of course restarted the PC and tried afterwards, with no other programs running.

OK, so I tried with en empty file, wans't able to downlaod anything, then made a simple file with a single page containing just an image. The behaviour was the same as above, only that I now got to a Total of 61 % and a Current of 55 %.

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated! Since there are no dealers of these remotes in Norway I had to purchase mine online, and since it has worked well until now I guess I will not be able to return it to the seller. And probably not possible to have it repaired here either.

Very disappointed and frustrated, gave away 4 MX-3000 and hope to live with only this remote....

Have you tried removing the batteries and re-installing them? Maybe a reset will help.

If you still have the CCP files stored on your HDD you can try to uninstall and re-install the program.
If you do that then it would help to remove URC windows registry key prior to re-installing the CCP.

Also, you can try to go to "properties", and check the "compatibility" tab- I also have Win 7 but the program runs better in Win XP SP3 compatibility mode on my machine.

Good luck

This is what fixed it for me recently, per URC tech support.

Hi, I solved the issue eventually, by moving the CCP files to a different folder on my PC. Don't know why that made any difference, but it did.

However, when I wanted to make a small change to my file today, and I first updated the RCC, after a successful download (according to the pop up windows on the PC, and the Please Wait - MX 990 message on the remote screen, followed by the sound it always makes after updating, the remote screen went black, and the remote seems to have died. I have removed the battery multiple times, and the same thing happens every time I reinsert it, the screen wakes up, if shows MX-990 and Please Wait, then the progress bar completes, it makes the usual sound, and goes black. It neither reacts to keypresses nor attempts to connect via the syncing cable, but it does have contact with the cable and the pc (it starts up without the battery whenever I insert the cable, but it behaves in the same way).

Can anyone give me any good ideas about what might be wrong, and any tips on how to fix it? I am unable to operate even my the simplest functions on my home entertainment system without the remote, and living in Norway there are no distributors or anyone here who can fix it...
