I need to learn two IR commands from Microsoft's MCE keyboard (not remote), and this was done without any issue by my MX-3000. Trying the same thing with my MX-990 doesn't works. It says learning is successful, but the learned code doesn't work on the HTPC (whilst both the original keyboard and the MX-3000 work fine).

Is this a known issue? (The MX-990 has been able to learn some commands, so I no it isn't broken).

If you have the Codes in your MX3000 editor file you can use the Universal Browser to import the codes into the new 990 Remote...

Best Regards

Thanks David. Have been doing that now, and it works perfectly! :-)

But still a bit disappointed with the learning abilities of the 990 though...

Remote controls are not ideal learning instruments. They are not made as well as dedicated learners, and often, ambient light and surrounding interference play a role in compromising the codes being learned. They are decent in a pinch, but you are better off with purchasing a URC PIR-1 which is a professional learner.

Simply plug into your PC's USB port, aim the remote and learn the code. It's very easy to test the code you learned as well. i find this solution to work much better than relying on remote controls for learning.

Awesome! I have been using the MX 6000 for years now and will likely be purchasing the MX 990. I am also disappointed that there is no comparable remote in their line. The MX 3000 was truly their best remote hands down..

Happy Programming..
