Anyone else having this problem? I'm running 64-bit Vista. Haven't had a bit of trouble so far programming my MX900's with this setup other than I'd like a few updated IR files for HDDVD and Pio Plasma. Tried to run Live Update and got the message "Failed to Save Patch File." I uninstalled and reinstalled the Editor, tried LiveUpdate again and got the same message. So now my installed version is even more out of date than before!

Any ideas?

I ran into the same problem yesterday (although I didn't un-install and re-install the editor). It worked this morning.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

I installed the editor on my wife's xp system then completed the live update. Afterwards I replaced the whole editor folder on my Vista computer with the one from my wife's xp computer. Who knows if it will work for the next update but for now I get the message that the program is up to date.

Problem relates to the vista program driver, URC made it very clear that they do not support the vista operating system with their programs, I have made numerous posts on the urc forums and they won’t respond, I did get to talk to someone who told me to uninstall complete control suite and delete from regedit also, and it should fix it, but I did nothing.Let me know if you get anywere

I am using Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I was having the same problem and decided to try something that worked great for me. If you find the executable file for the URC editor software and right click it (the file that you normally double click to run the software) after you right click it, left click on "properties" in the drop down menu that shows up. In the "compatibility" tab there is a section called "compatibility mode" where you can check the box that reads "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Next, down the list, check the box under the "Privilege Level" section that reads "Run this program as an administrator." Next, click the OK button. If you haven't already closed the program from the last time you ran it, close the program and then re-run it. It will likely pop up a darkened windows screen asking you if the program has permission, which you allow. After these changes, I was able to finally update successfully through live update!! This procedure will work with many Vista compatibility glitches with lots of different programs. I hope this helps someone else as I clearly realize that I am responding to a thread that is more than a year old.

you have to turn 'user account control' off! go to control panel click on user accounts and you should see it, turn it off, the computer will ask to restart, let it restart, open the program, run the updater and it should work for you. remember to turn user account control back on once you've done the update.

Clearly you weren't too late to help me. I was too late in the day to call URC, so thanks!

I'm running Windows 7 Professional on a new MacBook Pro and your suggestion for Windows XP Compatibility mode (in my case SP3) running as Administrator worked like a charm. Thanks!

I have tried everything listed here. On 2 Win7 computers (1 64-bit, 1 32-bit), running on 2 different networks (and different ISP), 2 seperate downloads of the program file -- and they both stop on exactly the same file in the patch download. Compatibility mode, running as administrator, etc, did not work for me at all. No AV running. Any thoughts?

I'm using Vista 32 bit and was having the failure to load patch issue. URC advised to right click on the shortcut on your desktop and select "run as administrator". This worked fine for me. Hope this helps.

It finally worked. I did nothing different and didn't change any settings. I was running the prog as Administrator every time it failed. I'm happy but I don't have anything to help others who might have this problem. Just keep trying -- I guess.

Is this happening to anyone again? I've tried for over a week now and keep getting the same error:

Failed to Download Patch File

The download begins and then stalls out.

I'me getting a steady 6 mbs download on network on my end.

And I am running as administrator : right click program > run as administer

Nor did compatibility mode work.
