How can you determine if a MX-780 remote is the old version with an OLED screen or the newer version with an LCD screen?  I don't have physical access to the device (CL, eBay, etc.). Could the number on the sticker inside the battery compartment be used to make this determination?  Thanks.

Is the screen dark? It's old. Bright? It's new. The serial number will help determine the year at least.

Yes, the serial # will tell you the production date. URC has been pretty receptive to replacing the ones with the dark screen issue thru a dealer.

What year was this remote manufactured, and is it likely that it has an LCD screen?
