I've posted a few messages here over the past week concerning the mx-850 remote with no replies. Doesn't anyone use this remote anymore?

I have had one for many years that I've been using in my family room and just recently bought three more of them on Ebay because the price of a used on is so reasonable now. I still love the remote and for about $50 to $75 each I can afford to have them in every room.

Mike.

Discontinued and very much limited compared to the newer remotes in the line. It lacks even basic true/false variables, limited characters on the screen, and no IRDB, plus a limited amount of devices supported on one controller. It was good in its day but its time has come and gone now.

Thanks for the reply.

It still does all that I need it to do here and for little more cost than a cheap remote from Walmart. I still have a couple of Samsung plasma's here, a couple of newer lcd TVs and a couple of Denon amps and the remote handles them all well.

It is plenty capable for the basics, and except for buttons wearing out, might never quit.

The color remotes are so much nicer looking and having color plus some icons and graphics is the way most are going.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I am a retired salesman and still use these remotes. I retired in 2009 and liked the MX850's buttons and feel in the hand better than the newer remotes. I guess I am an old fuddy-duddy, but they work great for me. Better lighting would be nice.

I also bought some used back-ups on Ebay.
