I've got Complete Control Suite installed on a couple of laptops to manage a few MX850 remotes still in use. I recently went to use one of the laptops, which hadn't run CCS in about a year, and when I launch CCS, I get a message box telling me that 124.6 megabytes of updates are available. The message asks if I want to proceed with the update. When I click Yes, the download progress window appears, but even if I wait for hours, the progress bar never moves. If I cancel the download and manually click the Live Update button in CCS, I get the message "Unable to connect to Live Update server." (The laptop has no problem connecting to the Internet for any other application.)

Anybody know:

What's going on?
Is the Live Update server no longer live? (Seems like it would have to be live just to tell me that an update is available.)
Is there a workaround or perhaps another way to jump start the download and install the update?
Is there a way to transfer the most recent update/database from my other laptop, on which Live Update tells me that CCS is already up to date?

Download the suite again from URC and re-install on older laptop.

OK. I'll give that a try.
Thanks.

Reinstalling the application from scratch did not change the behavior. However, I was able to copy the entire CCS program folder from the fully updated PC to the older one, and the most recent database appears to be in use.

Now, if I select "Live Update" from within an individual remote editor (e.g. MX-850), it says the program is up to date. But if I select "Live Update" from the CCS menu, it says it is still unable to connect to the server. Otherwise, it seems to be working fine. Maybe this installation will encounter a problem as I use it more, but I'll live with it this way for now, as it meets my main objective of getting the latest database onto the older laptop.

It seems like a waste of time being that the MX850 is not part of the Complete Control lineup, therefore cannot be programmed using CCP.

Bingo! Love to see an 850 tweaked thru CCP.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Try launching CCS as administrator. Upgrading the software has nothing to do with the mx-850 and should work.

Mike.
