I'm in a client's house trying to modify a client's MX980, which sends to an A/V system through an MRF 260 and to a cool little laser light show through a second MX980.

I seem to be able to open and close the CCP files okay, but SAVE takes maybe five minutes. I don't want to try to work with things as they are. It'll take too long.

I've opened a file, done nothing to it, and the software has asked if I want to make changes. I've opened a file and NOT had that question. I've modified a file and had it take maybe five minutes to save. A quick save has not happened.

When it's hung up, Task Manager tells me I'm waiting for Commercial CCP 3.6.0516.1. The file is an upload from the client's MX980, though the software works the same with older files.

Can anyone help? SAVE is now slower than a Pronto download!

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

What make and model is the computer? 32 bit or 64 bit? On wifi or lan? SSD or no SSD? Gray or Silver? Plugged in or on battery? Screen at full brightness or half brightness? Speakers turned up? What floor are you on? A house or an apartment? Did you try at night or during the day? Before lunch or after lunch? Is the client over 6 feet tall? Has client been to church/temple lately? What pets are in the house? Do they have cable or satellite? Is this a coastal property or inland? Democratic house or Republican? Is the lawn more or less than 2.1 inches long? What color mailbox does the client have?

How can you expect us to help you without all the info?

Hi Ernie,

I have been running CCP on Windows 7 (multiple computers) since Vista was replaced by it, and never had it hang up on a save like that. I am not sure if any other programs such as anti-virus can cause problems, but you could always try disabling it if you have it installed.

This entire post is summed up in the bold print section below.

I tried to post this in URC's Forum but I keep getting "Database error" and the URL cannot be found. So I'm posting it here.

The program used to do this: upon hitting save, nothing happened for about five seconds; then the image on screen jumped up about a half inch; then CCP would not do anything for about five minutes. Task Manager showed it "Not Responding."

I've reinstalled the residential program. Now if I open a file and try to close it, I'm asked if I want to save changes. "Yes" gets me no response; the file just sits there. "No" and "Cancel" close the program without saving. It behaves this way whether or not I edit the file. So, I cannot save the file. (I am doing this now with no remote connected; that might make a difference.)

The problem has morphed a bit and my discussion with Michael at URC has led me to attack this in a different way.

Michael ended our conversation last week up by telling me that maybe something is not set right on my computer, and that's why I'm having the problem. He could not offer any suggestions as to what might need to be set differently, so here's the new approach: what are the settings needed on my computer so that CCP will work properly? This is probably an outrageous question to ask. I have never seen any program list the settings needed for it to work. Do software manufacturers even know the answers to this?

By "settings" I mean ANYTHING that will make CCP not work: how should it be set so that it will work? For instance, one reference I found online told me to go to Device Manager and change a profile from URC to some other type. I cannot find that now. Perhaps a remote has to be connected to make that appear in the list.

Try checking for bad windows files. Open an elevated command prompt and run sfc/scannow and see if it fixes anything.

Thanks. I had no reason to know about this at all! But...
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

FWIW, computer commands usually don't work if there is a typo of any kind in them. You said to run
sfc/scannow. I just looked up sfc and the Microsoft article says to run
sfc /scannow

So I'm doing it again, the second way, just in case it matters.
Result: the same.

Not to state the obvious, but since no one mentioned it...why have you not called URC tech support directly and done a screen share, so they can help understand what's going on and solve the problem right away?

Having been in tech support, my take on support is to always go straight to the source (unless you know you may not get a response for days) for the most accurate, useful information in a timely manner.

While posting here may yield a result, chances are URC has the answer already.

I hope you have your solution!
