I just purchased the mx-450 and flashed an update so the remote has the latest software.

I have a Yamaha rx-v1065 receiver that I am trying to setup. Last night I spent several hours testing the different codes in the database looking for one that had a power on/off rather than just a power toggle so when switching between activities it won't power off the receiver. I am posting here to see if anyone can help me with the codes, because there seems to be quite a list for yamaha receivers. Is there a resource I can look at rather than just setting up each code and looking at what the options are?

My second question isn't as big of a deal, but it is kind of along the same lines with the power toggle. I have a Mediasonic HW-150PVR HomeWorx, but can't that brand anywhere in the remote. I can use the learn function, but not sure how to do the power on/off vs power toggle.

for the Yamaha RX-V1065 look for the codeset numbered 1238.  These number aren't always in order, so you might have to keep scrolling.

No idea on the HomeWorx piece.

It looks like the Harmony has code sets for the HomeWorx PVR but I haven't seen evidence that they have a discrete on/off code, it is unclear there is one (and you would have to find a Harmony remote to learn it from :-).

Sometimes you can fake out a discrete on/off by finding a sequence of button presses that work and building an "Off" macro. For example on many BlueRay players you can hit "Play" instead of Power Toggle to turn the device on discretely. This means that you can create a discrete OFF button by hitting "Play" then pause a bit for it to power up (if off), then hit the Power Toggle button, (though this means your BlueRay will now power cycles if you were sending an off command when it was already off). Not sure if Play or Live might cause the HomeWorx to come out of standby or not, or if you can only come out of standby by hitting the Power Toggle button. But gives you something to experiment with atleast.

Thanks I tried code 1238 for the Yamaha receiver and it worked pretty well, however there was just a power command and not a separate on/off command. I searched again for quite a while, but didn't have any luck. Do Yamaha receivers not have separate on/off commands? Are they all just a power toggle?

How do you handle this if this is the scenario if I was going to program a macro for watch tv and play xbox? Just program everything to turn on with the on button while not doing anything with turning devices on/off in the macros? Just curious how others are handling this. (note: thanks to shallowearth's comment I may hook up my old harmony just to see if I can find an on/off there).

Shallowearth, thanks for the information. I'm pretty sure it does come out of standby when I hit the play button so I will give that a shot. I do also have an old harmony remote, so I can maybe try that as well.

the power on and off may be tied to the hard buttons on the remote, not a button on the screen.  the codes are listed in the device when looking at the codes using the CCP program.

Yamahas do have discrete power codes.  I believe they also turn on with an input command, which is a nice feature.

Newer Yamahas do not turn on with Input commands. However, if your model allows for scene commands, you can setup a scene in the receiver to power on and set all the properties. Then you just need to find the Scene commands in the MX450 and add just the scene command to your macros to power on, set inputs, set sound field. You could either setup a Scene for power off or call up a Scene with power on and then send the power toggle command.

Sorry, I don't know if your model supports scenes.
