Hi.

I'm new to this forum but have been reading it a while. I'm a new MX-450 owner and got it programmed with devices and macros and I’m pleased with the results. One problem I’m having is with setting up Favorites. I followed the directions and it almost works. I have a Comcast X1 DVR. You can go to any channel by entering the channel numbers and pressing Select on the Comcast remote. When programming the MX-450 I entered a station number for CBS (189) and used the ENT button at the end. When I try the Fav button it enters 189 on the screen but doesn’t get the ENT press. I then discovered that the ENT button on my remote did nothing so I set it up via a 1-button macro to press the SEL button on the MX-450 while in the Comcast device. I tested this by manually entering 1-8-9-ENT and that worked, but again when I tried with the Fav button it just entered the 189 and stopped. The channel entry for the CBS Fav button shows “189/“. Is that correct? I get a / when I press ENT. Thinking it might be a timing issue I tried putting a pause after the 189 before the / but nothing shows for the pause so I have no idea if it’s taking it. I checked with tech support at URC and was told to try multiple ENTs after the channel number. I tried that with no luck. I'd really like to get this last piece working if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks.

I may have figured this out. I got the recommended code set to use for my Comcast X1 DVR from URC tech support. I was told to use 202 for RF or 195 for IR. I decided to go with 202 and that's where I'm having my problem. However, changing to code set 195 allows the Fav programming to work as expected. The Ent button on my remote works when using code set 195 but doesn't when using 202 unless I use a 1 button macro for Ent. I think the button macro doesn't work with Fav and it must be hard coded. I tried learning the code into my remote from the Comcast remote but it just won't take. I think the Comcast remote is also RF so the IR training is failing. I'd go with code set 195 but I noticed that other buttons like Exit don't work with 195.

Guess I'll keep trying other options but if any one has a suggestion please send them my way.

Thanks.

You get can around this if you have a second 450 (or other URC remote) and learn the Ent or Exit button from the other code sets.

If you don't have access to a second remote, you might be able cheat a little by creating a second device with the other code set program a macro to the other code, then hide the second device/pages.

I got this completely figured out, thanks to some other messages elsewhere in this forum, and wanted to share it with others that might be having the same problem;

To summarize, my problem was that I couldn’t get Favs to work when I used code set 202 for my Comcast X1 DVR device. The problem was that the ENT button was not programmed with a discreet code. Fav programming appears to require a discreet code for ENT and using a macro won’t work. Also, because code set 202 is RF and because my Comcast remote is also RF, I couldn’t learn the IR code into my MX-450. So I tried code set 195 and that works because ENT is programmed in that code set. However, code set 195 is missing some important discreet codes and I was unable to learn the codes into my device because my original remote was sending RF, not IR.

SOLUTION: I discovered that the X1 remote can do both IR and RF. My remote was set to RF by the Comcast installer. You can tell because when you press any button on it it flashes green (RF) first then red (RF). To get just RF I had to unpair my Comcast remote from my DVR. To do that you press and hold the Setup button on the remote until the LED on the remote changes from red to green and then enter 9-8-7. After that it just sends RF and learning can be done for missing functions in code set 195.

For the record, I found missing codes in each code set that hopefully will be added in future database updates.

Code set 202 is missing codes for ENT, Skip-, and Skip+. Pause also does nothing but pressing the Play button alternates between play and pause.

Code set 195 is missing codes for EXIT, Skip-, and Skip+ and also has the same issue with Pause as mentioned above.

After making my X1 remote RF only I was able to add the missing functions by learning the IR codes.

Hope this helps others.
