Hello all,

Long time member but mostly lurker.

My brother in law asked me to try to get his AV simplified by utilizing a Universal Remote.
Since I'm very familiar with the MX450, I purchased one for him.
I've got all his gear up and working except his Xfinity Box, which is a Cisco RNG150N.

First I tried to find it in the database with no luck.
Then I tried to teach the MX450 with his Xfinity remote, which would not take the codes.
Then I searched here and found some Phillips codes which i downloaded into my Pronto and taught the MX450.

These seem to work but not through the MRF350, which is really weird.
I also tried these codes through an IR extender. Still no luck.
If I aim the MX450 right at the Cisco box, the commands work.

Is there any solution to this problem? Is there another Xfinity box that he can get that will be compatible with the URC MX450?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

There are two sets of codes from the x1, one that works with an RF Extender like the MRF350 and one set that works with direct IR looks like you found the IR ones. Are there another set of Phillips codes available? They should be the extender compatible ones.

Also if you had already setup your xfinity report to work with RF with your cable box that might be why you cannot learn the codes. Try unpairing your xfinity remote from your box, and then relearning the codes (but I believe that again only gets you the direct IR commands not the extender ones)

The cable codeset numbers Shallowearth mentioned are as follows:

RF Only:  202
IR Only:  195

if those codesets don't show up, be sure to update your database with the archiver software.

Update the remote with the MX-450 archiver software then the codes Duct recommended should be in there.

Well no luck with those 2 codes. I updated the remote using the archiver and still no luck.
Any other suggestions.

Yes Bob, I found both of them.
They would not even work while aiming the remote directly at the RNG150N Box.

BTW, my brother in law is using the XR5 remote.
This is the one that can not "Teach" the MX450.

There are different techniques for learning. Here are some to try.
1. Holding down the button on the sending remote. Most common method.
2. Tap the button once on the sending remote, don't hold it down
3. Put your hand or book between the sending remote and the 450. Hold the button down on the sending remote, wait a second and then remove your hand or the book.

You can try call URC and see if they have a solution. They have people that work on codes full time.

Thanks Bob!

I'll try these techniques this weekend.
In the mean time, I'll try to call URC

Note I was able to use the MX450 with the same xfinity box using IR commands and it worked fine (using inbox codes, though now that I think about it, there may have been one or two commands I taught it from my MX780). I never tried it with my MRF350 via RF commands however, I do control it with a MX780/MRF350 combination that works fine.

Are you sure you have the power/intensity on your MRF350 set correctly and the blaster located in the right spot? Or have you tried it with the front blaster from various distances just to see if the codes are working at all?

The XFINITY boxes are pretty finicky about saturation, you might be overpowering it.

Shallowearth, I was there for 3 hours yesterday trying every combination of RF, IR and direct aiming. Do I need to reset the box at all? I even unpaired the XR5 remote but nothing at all. I called URC today. The tech basically told me to make sure I was using the codes under Comcast rather than Cisco, which I tried. I'm going back again this weekend. I've got to figure this out....

OK I dug out my MX450 and I did have it set to code 0195 and it works fine using IR with my xfinity boxes. I have both a RNG150N and a XG1. Have you been able to get the remote working with direct IR?

Have you verified that your xfinity remote works when in IR mode (since you unpaired the remote)?

I then configured my MX450 to my MRF350 still using code 0195 and it also worked fine.

Maybe something else is wrong. I don't see a RNG150N made by Cisco on Comcasts website, those are made by Samsung or Pace depending on the model..

Cisco makes the XiD X1, haven't seen one of those yet.

Thanks Shallowearth,
Yes, if you Google Cisco RNG150N, you'll see one.
I appreciate you taking the time to find this for me.
I'll let you know how it goes after my next visit.
